Geert De Maere

Geert De Maere obtained his BSc (Hons.) and MSc (Hons.) in engineering in 2000 from KaHo Sint-Lieven, Ghent, Belgium. He was working as a research assistent at Vakgroep IT, KaHo from 2000 till 2007. In January 2008, he became a research assistant at the Automated Scheduling, optimisAtion and Planning group at the University of Nottingham. He recently obtained his PhD from the University of Nottingham. His research focussed on robust airline scheduling for KLM airlines and was awarded as the best technical innovation on the airline operations meeting 2007 of the Airline Group of the International Federation of Operational Research Societies (AGIFORS), and has received the second place in the Anna Valicek competition for innovative research in air transportation. His thesis was recommended by the examiners for conideration of the Operational Research Society's best dissertation award. Geert's main research interest is in optimisation in air-transportation.
